Keanu Reeves is one of the most admired men in the world for 2020

Keanu Reeves is one of the most admired men in the world in 2020, beating out the likes of Pope Francis and Michael Jordan to claim his coveted spot.

The Canadian actor ranked at number 10 on the list, according to a recent study from YouGov.

And The Matrix star was in good company; he finished behind Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, the Dalai Lama, and several other influential figures.

This is the first time that Reeves broke the Top 20 on the list, with a good chunk of the 45,000 people surveyed across the world saying that they admire the actor.

Reeves ranked even higher in Canada, claiming spot number six on the list of men that Canadians admire (Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed third).

His increased popularity in Canada is unsurprising, however, considering that Reeves was raised in Toronto, earning him plenty of Canadian fans.

Sadly, not a single Canadian woman made the Top 20 most admired list, although former Green Party leader Elizabeth May ranked among the women that Canadians most admire.

The first wave of fieldwork for the study was carried out before the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, so some of the people on the lists may have shifted around a little.

Admittedly, Keanu Reeves was born in Lebanon and is an American citizen, so Canada can't take all the credit for his success โ€” but we can still boast that his acting career started here, first.
