cases of coronavirus in canada

There are now 97 cases of coronavirus in Canada

There are now 97 cases of coronavirus in Canada, as of March 11.

Ontario has 37 cases, British Columbia has 39 cases, Alberta has 14 cases and Quebec has seven cases.

Over the past 24 hours, Sudbury, Ontario reported its first case — a man that attended a mining conference with more than 25,000 people that may have been exposed to the virus — and Alberta's number of cases doubled.

B.C. reported seven new cases of the virus, two of which are linked to the Lynn Valley Care Centre — the long-term care home that has been dealing with a coronavirus outbreak.

Quebec quietly reported three more cases on the Health Ministry website late last night.

Air Canada officially cancelled all flights from Canada to Italy as the European country placed 60 million people under lockdown. Passengers can claim a full refund for their cancelled journey.

And 237 Canadians who were aboard the ill-fated Grand Princess cruise ship, which had an outbreak of the communicable disease, were happily repatriated; they will be quarantined in Trenton, Ont. for 14 days before they are released.

Canada opened its first specialized coronavirus clinic in Montreal, which saw 20 patients on Monday. Another clinic is expected to open today, and a third clinic will open on March 16.

The novel virus continues to wreak havoc on the economy, with businesses across Canada restricting their employees' travel. In Toronto, RBC employees are in self-quarantine after their co-worker tested positive for the virus.

There are currently more than 113,000 coronavirus cases and 4,000 deaths worldwide.
