Adidas just re-released the Terry Fox shoes from his Marathon of Hope

Terry Fox's monumental Marathon of Hope celebrated its 40th anniversary last month, and to honour Canada's most celebrated runner, footwear brand Adidas has just released a pair of new shoes.

Adidas' classic Orion sneakers, which Fox wore during his cross-country run in 1980, are being re-released as part of the brand's Terry Fox collection on May 20.

The commemorative collection will be exclusive to Canada, and all the net proceeds will go toward the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research.

The Orion Terry Fox shoes, $130 a pair, each have Terry Fox's name above the brand's iconic three stripes.

There's also a Terry Fox Ringer t-shirt ($40) featuring an image of the 22-year-old on the road, and a map of his route on the back.

According to the Angela Murphy's Great Canadians encyclopedia, Fox wrote Adidas a letter asking for a donation of 26 shoes, which he received. That letter will be printed on the tissue paper included in each Adidas shoe box.
