corey hart never surrender

This Canadian singer's hit song from 1985 is getting a makeover as a pandemic anthem

A Canadian singer is rereleasing a popular hit single as a pandemic anthem later this month.

Corey Hart has redone one of his classics, and no, it's not Sunglasses at Night (though that would be apt considering none of us can keep track of time any more).

Instead he's putting a twist on Never Surrender in honour of "heartfelt messages from people all over the world telling me how much 'Never Surrender' has meant to them during the journey of their lives, including into this new crucible we are all facing," he said in a statement.

Of course, due to social distancing he had to record the entire thing himself with the help of his family in the Bahamas. His wife, Julie Masse, even directed a new music video for it.

"Never Surrender (Angels) 2020" will be released on digital platforms on May 29. The original track was released in 1985 and won a Juno Award for single of the year.
