Shawn Mendes just dropped new music for the first time in years and fans are freaking out

Canadian singer Shawn Mendes just dropped the first part of "Wonder," dazzling fans with a full 90-second clip of what appears to be a track off a brand new album.

In the video, Mendes wanders through a dimly-lit brick apartment that wouldn't look out of place in Toronto, thirty minutes from where the singer grew up.

The clip finishes by displaying the dates "October 2" and "December 4," leaving fans to speculate that Mendes's first single will drop this Friday with the full album following in December.

Although Mendes is keeping most of the details on the release under wraps so far, eagle-eyed fans have already spotted a few interesting details in the video.

The newspaper on the coffee table, for example, reads, "Famous Musician Gone Missing."

Another shot shows a "set list" displaying the following songs, which will presumably be tracks on the album:

  • Wonder
  • Can't Take My Eyes Off You
  • Lost In Japan
  • Nervous
  • Never Be Alone
  • Look Up at the Stars
  • Lost Ones
  • Why
  • Always Been You
  • Monster (with special guest)
  • Higher
  • Picture of the Moon

The set list also has a number attached to it that tells callers that they've reached the voicemail box of "Wonder."

Naturally, Mendes fans (known as the "Mendes Army") are freaking out over the latest announcement.

"Shawn Mendes is REALLY about to save 2020," one fan wrote.

"Why do you have to make me cry like that?" another fan added. "Welcome back Shawn."

It's safe to say that Mendes' new pared-back website dedicated to "Wonder" is already seeing a lot of traffic.

Mendes announced back in February that he was beginning to work on new music after a two-year hiatus following his latest album release, "Shawn Mendes," which dropped in 2018.

"What's up guys? I know that I haven't been on Instagram at all lately," Mendes said in a Feb. 21 Instagram story. "But I just wanted to say that I love, and I miss you so much. I'm making another album. So, yeah, I love you and I'll see you soon."

It looks like the day is finally here.
