131-year-old French bakery chain PAUL opening its first location in Canada

An authentic French bakery that has been around for 131 years is set to debut in Canada.

The first Canadian location of PAUL will open in downtown Vancouver this year at 1164 Robson Street.

The chain, which currently has more than 600 locations worldwide, originated in the far north of France in 1889 and is known for its sandwiches, pastries, salads, coffee, breads and other gourmet baked goods.

The Canadian storefront on Robson Street will join the long list of PAULs all over the world — from Saudi Arabia to Luxembourg to South Africa.

Hopefully the distinctly French feel of the eatery will carry over to its B.C. establishment.
