does costco canada require face masks

Costco shoppers in Canada not required to wear face masks despite new rules in the US

Costco shoppers in Canada are not required to wear face masks in stores, despite stores in the U.S. introducing rules that say shoppers must do so.

As of May 4, U.S. Costco members and guests are required to don face masks in order to shop. However, Canadian shoppers can continue to shop without a face covering.

According to the Costco Canada website, the only policies currently in place as a result of the pandemic are:

  • Priority access for healthcare workers and first responders
  • Limited entry; Costco will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card
  • Special operating hours for senior members (Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m)
  • Limitations on select products
  • Return restrictions on toilet paper, water, sanitizing wipes, paper towels, rice and disinfecting spray

Costco management at the Langford, B.C. and Kitchener, Ont. locations have also confirmed that there are currently no face mask requirements at their locations.
